Desilter is the third class solid control equipment to treat the drilling fluids. That is a centrifugal device for removing very fine particles, or silt, from drilling fluids to keep the amount of solids in the fluid at the lowest possible point. Usually, the lower the solids content of mud, the faster is the rate of penetration.
Application: A desilter is used to separate silts from drilling muds. The cut point can be as low as 4“. As muds are being used in drilling operations, they are contaminated with silts. In order to use again these muds, it is necessary to separate silts and also to recycle muds to dispose them at the end of work duty.
Design Principles: TR manufactures TRZQJ series mud desilters according to the size of the cone diameter, they are divided into Desander and Desilter. Usually the cone diameter is less than 6″is called Desilter, and used as the third control equipment in drilling operation. We commonly used 5 "and 4" cone to separate solid-phase particle size 15-47μm in the drilling fluid. Based on customer requirements and capacity, we can select groups of cones into Desilter.
The TR 4”desilter can handle up to 1056 GPM of drilling fluid.
